The Dark Forest is the exact opposite of StarClan. Cats who have betrayed their Clan or committed great crimes against the warrior code or StarClan go their to live. The only source of light is glowing fungus, no prey inhabits the area, and it is dead silent. Each cat must live by themselves for the rest of eternity.
